Nicholas “Nick” Primrose

Nick Primrose is the Chief, Regulatory Compliance at the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT), Florida’s largest container port and one of the busiest automobile ports in the nation. In this role, Nick ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations, and oversees risk management and safety, environmental and sustainability initiatives, and overall port development and growth.

Prior to joining JAXPORT, Nick served as Deputy General Counsel for Florida Governors Ron DeSantis and Rick Scott. He was charged with overseeing various state agency’s legal departments and executive litigation efforts, including the Amendment 4 Felon Voting Rights challenge and the Beach Closure lawsuit during COVID-19. Additionally, Nick managed and provided advice on judicial appointments and executive suspensions. Prior to his public service, Nick was a private litigator in Central Florida handling civil matters at a boutique law firm and Farmers Insurance Company.

In August 2021, Governor DeSantis appointed Nick as the Chair of the Florida Elections Commission, charged with enforcing Florida’s election code and campaign finance laws, as position he held until the end of his term. Additionally, he currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Florida Freight Advisory Committee.

Nick was raised by a single mother in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois, where he was a multiple conference champion on their Division III swim team. He also received a Master of Public Administration from DePaul University and a Juris Doctor with Litigation High Honors from Barry University. Nick and his wife, Paige, met in Tallahassee before moving to St. Johns County, where they live with their Golden Retriever, Hudson.

Nick is a Maverick PAC 2022 Future40 honoree and also a member of the American Enterprise Institute Leadership Network, the Federalist Society and Leadership Florida.
