Jamal Sowell

Jamal Allen Sowell is the former Florida Secretary of Commerce. In this role, he managed over a dozen foreign offices, led the state’s export program, and oversaw small and rural business growth. Sowell is the President of Business Solutions at Indelible. Indelible is a national management consulting firm providing audit, regulatory compliance, emergency management, health education, and technology advisory services to public and private sector organizations. He has worked for Congressman Todd Young and Shurat HaDin, a non-governmental organization in Israel dedicated to fighting terrorist organizations through legal action. 

Sowell is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan and was in the United States Marine Corps, enlisting as a Private First Class and completed his time in the Marines as a Captain. He currently serves in the United States Navy Reserve. He was a Pat Tillman Scholar at Indiana University Bloomington, where he was appointed to the State Board of Health Facility Administrators by Governor Mike Pence and was chosen by the Federalist Society to be an editor for the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy Symposium. In 2023, Governor DeSantis appointed him to the Florida Defense Support Task Force and Florida Trend named him as one of the 500 most influential business leaders in Florida.
