Tyler Payne

Florida

Tyler is an attorney and family businessman in the St. Petersburg, FL area. He currently serves as the Executive Vice President for IcareLabs, an optical lens manufacturer which his grandfather founded over 50 years ago.

In March 2021, he was elected Mayor for the City of Treasure Island, where his family has lived since 1970. A 2008 graduate of the University of Florida, he received degrees in Business Management and Religion. Tyler also earned his Juris Doctor and Masters in Business Administration from Stetson University.

Tyler has been very involved with the Pinellas County Young Republicans, serving as its President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Membership Director. He is a member of Leadership Florida, the Gulf Beaches Rotary, and the Sons of the American Legion, Post 158. He was appointed by his fellow Commissioners as the City of Treasure Island’s liaison to the Suncoast League of Cities, where he now serves as the President.

He is also active with the Florida League of Cities, serving on the Board of Directors, Young Elected Municipal Officials Advisory Council, and Municipal Administration Policy Committee. He serves as the Chairman for the Young Floridians for Opportunity PAC, a statewide political committee focused on getting conservative young professionals involved in politics and elected to office.

He also serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Drug Free America Foundation, founded by conservative stalwarts Ambassador Mel and Betty Sembler. He has been recognized as a "Home Rule Hero" by the Florida League of Cities in 2023, 2022, 2021, & 2020. He was selected for one of the state's most prestigious leadership programs, Leadership Florida Connect and graduated from the program in 2022. He was recognized as the Public Service Leader of the Year in 2021 by the Treasure Island & Madeira Beach Chamber of Commerce.
