About Roxy

Mayor Pro Tem Roxy Ndebumadu is an AI Tech Entrepreneur, Elected Official, and Board Member defined by resiliency, ambitiousness, and traumatic life experiences which taught her to persevere through every step of adversity. In 2019, Roxy became the youngest female and first African American woman to be voted and sworn into office as a Councilwoman for City of Bowie, representing District 4 within the State of Maryland. The City of Bowie serves a community of 68,000 constituents located in Prince George's County, Maryland and maintains a $77.4M dollar budget. In 2023 Roxy was unanimously appointed by the Bowie City Council to become the youngest woman selected as Mayor Pro Tem. Roxy has been recognized and appointed by Governor Hogan and County Executive Angela Alsobrooks to the Maryland State Board of Waterworks & Waste Systems, most recently the Maryland State Board of Affordable Housing, and the African Diaspora Advisory Board for Prince George's County, MD. Roxy is currently a Fellow at Rodel Institute and Vital Voices focusing on Public Leadership and Women's Political Leadership.

 

This powerful woman graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences. Despite focusing on Health Sciences, her career took a sudden u-turn. Due to a desire to help tackle technology infrastructure issues in emerging markets and rural areas for underprivileged communities - she transitioned into tech. Roxy spent her career as a corporate executive in Big Tech focused on the ethical use of AI, the modernization of government technologies, and exploring regulatory impacts of consumer insights including online harms. She has worked across Microsoft, Amazon, and Twitch prior to starting her AI software and consulting company called auderesonder (ow-dare-eh-son-der).

Future Plans

Mayor Pro Tem Ndebumadu’s future plans are to create an even greater impact on the Bowie City Council after she is re-elected in November 2024 across energy, opportunity creation, and increased senior support. In addition to her future of impact on the local level, Mayor Pro Tem Ndebumadu plans to grow her visibility as a dominant voice in the space of AI regulation and societal impact while she grows her company.

What makes Future40 special?

Being recognized as a MavPac Future40 recipient has brough greater awareness to my work as City Councilwoman. What makes this recognition so special was gift of being included among a group of equally inspirational leaders.

What is your favorite part of Mavericks Conference?

The speakers at MavPac conferences are incredible! It is a very rare opportunity to engage with executive leaders in a smaller setting filled with such insight.

Fun Fact

I am a lover of culture. I LOVE last minute, unplanned travel. There is something special about getting up and just seeing where the wind takes you!
