Representative Kat Cammack (FL-3) - Class of 2020

About Representative Cammack

Kat is a third-generation commercial sandblaster who grew up on a cattle ranch outside Denver, Colorado. She had hopes of continuing the family business, but shortly before graduating from college at Metro State University Denver, an Obama-era housing program forced her family to lose their small cattle ranch and home. As a result, Kat was motivated to fight back against the failures of big government and has since dedicated her life’s work to fight big government and advance individual freedoms.

Now serving in her second term during the 118th Congress, she works to prioritize constituent advocacy and service, fighting for families, national security, and government accountability.

Kat is the proud wife to her husband Matt, a Gainesville native, who serves with the Gainesville Fire Rescue as a firefighter/paramedic and SWAT medic. Kat and Matt have several backyard chickens and ducks and in their rare bit of spare time enjoy spending time with their critters, fishing, football, traveling, and skeet & trap.

Why is it important that the members of Maverick PAC remain engaged and involved in politics?

When I was growing up, I never had plans to be involved in politics, always wanting to enter our family business and carry on the work of my mom before me in our commercial sandblasting business. Before I knew it, though, big government got in the way and I knew I couldn’t sit idly by and not get involved in some of the most important decisions that affect our everyday lives—from excessive regulations that affect small businesses to major big-government spending that leaves families with less take-home pay in their pockets, especially amid the record inflation we’re seeing now.

Staying engaged and informed on the most important issues is critical to preserving the freedoms and values that we hold dear. Not doing anything gives the progressive left the room it needs to keep growing and attacking our fundamental values.

In your opinion, what is the future of the conservative movement and how can Maverick PAC members be impactful in that movement?

Every day I’m inspired by the young people who are stepping up across the country to take a stand for our conservative values. When I travel to speak to groups nationwide, or even in my own backyard in North Central Florida, I’m heartened to see young people and young families working hard to achieve their American dream. This past election cycle, my leadership PAC, the GRIT PAC, supported young, energetic, gritty conservative candidates across the country who were willing to stand up and fight, dedicating themselves to public service with a wide range of backgrounds.

Maverick PAC members share the same passions and energy and can help our movement by staying engaged and speaking up.

What are the top five issues Maverick PAC members should watch this year that will impact their industries and lives?

1. Regulations: Last month, I introduced the Regulations by the Executive In Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act for the second time. The bill is pivotal for businesses of all shapes and sizes, as we’ve seen how regulations cripple innovation and entrepreneurship by making it impossible to fulfill the government’s nonsensical standards. The bill would require all “major rules,” those costing more than $100 million annually, to be approved by Congress before taking effect. Excessive regulations and extreme government overreach stifle our American spirit, and it’s time to put a stop to them.

2. Competition with China

3. Big Tech and the First Amendment

4. Border security and immigration

5. Energy independence
