Dane Bahnsen, Class of 2021

About Dane

My name is Dane Bahnsen, and I serve as a Director at Boundary Stone Partners (BSP), the nation's leading bipartisan firm specializing in energy and climate-focused government affairs. At BSP, we are committed to guiding early-stage companies through their market debut and scale-up phases, leveraging government support to expedite their growth. Prior to joining BSP, my career journey included a stint at a renewable energy startup and an entrepreneurial endeavor, both of which taught me invaluable lessons in humility and resilience. My role as a presidential appointee at the U.S. Department of Energy, where I championed global energy exports, further enriched my expertise. This experience built on my earlier work in political campaigns across energy-rich states, underscoring the deep ties between energy policy and politics.

Future Plans

Looking ahead, I am dedicated to advancing climate policy, with a particular focus on startups that are pivotal to the energy transition. With an impressive $2.8 trillion invested in the energy sector in 2023 alone, the opportunities for impactful work are vast. While I am eager to dive into these challenges, I also harbor ambitions of returning to entrepreneurship at my own pace, armed with the lessons and insights I've accumulated over the years.

What makes Future40 special?

Being recognized by Future40 was very special, considering the recognition came from peers and friends within Mav PAC—a network I've been closely connected with for years. This acknowledgment by individuals I've worked alongside or with is a testament to the strong bonds and shared visions that make the organization unique.

What do you enjoy about MavCon the most?

The most memorable aspect of the Maverick PAC and its conferences, without a doubt, is the people. Reflecting on my first conference in 2015 at the Venetian—amidst an insane presidential campaign—I could never have anticipated that the connections made that weekend would evolve into enduring friendships and collaborations spanning years. It's these relationships that stand out as the most cherished aspect of my involvement.

Fun Fact

Although I began life as an only child, today I am one of eight siblings. This expansion of my family has brought joy and complexity in almost equal measure.
