James is a corporate attorney who has advised private equity investors and a variety of public and private companies in mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions. He has practiced at leading global law firms Sidley Austin LLP and Mayer Brown LLP.
James has been active in conservative policy and politics at all levels, from grassroots to the White House. He served on the Presidential Transition Team for President Donald Trump, leading the transition of the Securities and Exchange Commission. He served at the White House under President George W. Bush as Senior Writer to the President and a member of the national security staff, coordinating policymaking and oversight with senior officials among the Cabinet departments and agencies.
James received his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law, where was Articles Editor for the Texas Law Review, and his bachelor’s degree from Rice University. He served as a law clerk at the Texas Supreme Court, and he worked in the offices of the Secretary of Defense and Governor of Texas during law school.
