Jose L. Gonzalez is Region Vice-President, State Affairs for Anheuser-Busch Companies, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev. In this role, Jose is responsible for advocating on behalf of Anheuser-Busch in Regions 2, 4, and 5. Jose manages all of the regulatory and legislative lobbying for the 21 states included in these regions and acts as the primary representative for Anheuser-Busch before all state and local elected officials. Jose started his career at Anheuser-Busch as a State Affairs Region Director and was primarily responsible for states in the Southeast (MS, AL, GA, and FL). Prior to joining Anheuser-Busch, Jose served as Vice President of Governmental Affairs for Associated Industries of Florida (AIF). AIF is one of the oldest and most respected business associations in the state of Florida. He was responsible for managing the governmental affairs department and coordinating AIF’s 20 member lobbying team, as well as all research and advocacy efforts for the association. Jose played a part in many of the most memorable legislative victories for the business community including the repeal of Joint & Several liability and the passage of legislation protecting the 2003 workers’ compensation reforms.
Jose’s prior legislative experience also includes some time as a legislative intern for the Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability (OPPAGA). In that capacity he helped conduct agency reviews and helped draft reports for the Florida legislature.
Jose spent the first 18 years of his life living in Panama City, Panama where he attended the historic Balboa High School. Upon graduation from high school, he enrolled at the University of Florida where he graduated in 2000 with a degree in Political Science and a certificate in Latin American Studies. In 2003, Jose received a Masters of Arts degree in Political Science with a concentration in International Development Public Administration also from the University of Florida.
While at the University of Florida, Jose founded and operated his own business - a publishing and event management company based in Gainesville, Florida. After successfully running this small business for several years, he sold the company in order to pursue his dream of working in government affairs.
Jose is a member of Florida Blue Key, the University of Florida’s Hall of Fame, and the Delta Chi Fraternity. He is also an executive committee member of the Florida Association of Professional Lobbyists (FAPL) and a board member of Associated Industries of Florida and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
Jose is married to Angela Marie Gonzalez and together they live in Tallahassee, Florida with their three children – Christian (12), Adeline (9), and Katalina (7).
