Dr. Kelly Powers is best known for her national television news commentary on FOX News, as well as, other national news programming & day time talk shows, including CNN, HLN & NBC. Her commentary & reporting spans the gamut of healthcare, medicine, pharmaceuticals, politics, & policy and often their overlap. When she is not on TV, Dr. Powers spends her time in the operation room as she is a podiatric surgeon, with an emphasis on diabetes, wound care/plastic surgery & sports medicine.
Dr. Powers completed her General Surgery Internship & Podiatric Surgery Residency at Boston University Medical Center. She went on to complete her fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital, under the department of Plastic Surgery with a focus on diabetes/limb salvage & research. Dr Powers is a published author and her work can be found in esteemed journals, including: Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Journal of Diabetes Research, International Wound Journal, and the Wall Street Journal. Dr. Powers additionally hold a Masters in Science from University of San Francisco with focus of her study & research in environmental science, toxicology & epidemiology.
Dr. Powers has proven consistent advocacy for conservative causes and candidates. While completing her residency in Boston, she was a leader of the Women for Brown and Healthcare Professionals for Brown coalitions that supported Senator Scott Brown in his 2012 campaign against Elizabeth Warren. Dr. Powers was involved in the Greater Boston Young Republicans, and later the DC Young Republicans. She is now a member of the New York Young Republican Club and active in the Manhattan Republican Committee. In 2015, Dr. Powers graduated as a National Review Institute Regional Fellow. Additionally, she is a member of the Manhattan Institute - Young Leaders' Circle. In 2016, she was active in the campaign for Julie Killian for State Senate in Westchester County, New York. Dr Powers additionally held a national position at the American Public Health Association (APHA) as Section Councilor-elect in the Podiatric Health subsection of the APHA.
Over the course of her career, she has represented conservative ideals and brought significant attention and credibility to the GOP and it's endeavors on the local & national stage. Whether it be through her medical volunteerism with Remote Area Medical (RAM) which provides health care to those in underserved populations in the US, particularly Appalachia or as a first aid physician volunteer on the finish line at the New York City Marathon, she represents the principles set forth by the Maverick PAC and the long list of impressive prior Future 40 recipients.
As a member of the media through her well known and respected contributions to FOX News and others, Dr Powers has a reputation for presenting soft and hard news on medical and health issues of the day. She is becoming a "go-to" person on many health related stories, but is especially known for articulating political analysis, public policy, and current events. During the 2016 presidential race, she was a frequent analyst of the health status of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and was one of the first in the media to provide a detailed timeline on Secretary Clinton’s medical issues. Her analysis was the subject of two highly rated interviews on the show “Hannity”, with Sean Hannity on FOX News. She was also a regular panelist on the FOX News program “Red Eye” commenting on politics & policy mixed in with some comedy. Most recently, Dr. Powers provided live breaking news commentary coverage of the shooting of Congressman Scalice, staffers, & Capitol Hill police in June 2017 and has frequently discussed the growing opioid crisis in America.
